Wax Work & Plaster Casting (3 Mondays)

Wax Work & Plaster Casting (3 Mondays)

Andrew Goldfinch is an emerging multi media artist, specialising in cast glass crystal. Andrew completed a Bachelor of Applied Arts in 2015 and has since been creating cast crystal sculptures among other genres of fine art for exhibitions and private collections all over the world.

This is an instructional course, over three evenings, to give students an opportunity to create 3D wax works and progress these waxes into a 3D positive plaster mold ready for use in a glass studio to cast glass into.

Students will learn about tools required to create projects, formulas to prepare wax molds for glass firing, how to work wax, how to create plaster casts and how to prepare casts ready to use in a glass casting kiln.

Class one: working, sculpting and tools used to manipulate wax

Class two: finishing wax works, preparing wax for plaster cast and mold creation.

Class three: removing wax from casts, equipment and process. Overview discussion.

$200 per person
