Create Zone is the perfect class for children to explore a variety of skills based projects, such as, papier mache animals, personalised picture frames, treasure storage boxes and more! Painting, drawing, modelling, collage and crafts will feed the imaginations and creative juices of your child.

Make a collaborative film making course from start to finish with Grae Burton. Two Days intensive collaborative film making from concept to script writing to story boarding to filming and editing and soundtrack creation, finishing in a film of your very own that you helped create!
Students will be sent an online link to the finished film and also receive an official certification of completion at the end of the course.
Current LHAC Operations Manager Grae Burton, has worked in the Stage and Screen Industry for over 25 years. Prior to coming to Lake House Arts Centre he was Associate Producer for Wallace Productions Ltd (“Hunt for the Wilderpeople”, “Poi e”, “The Breaker Upperers”) and a free lance Producer/Director/Writer and Actor for film appearing in recent feature films “Mahana” and “Resolve” and TV shows such as “The Brokenwood Mysteries”, “Shortland Street” and “Power Rangers”. He is a regular participating Director in the 48 hour Furious Filmmaking Competition and his current award winning Short Film “Creep” is screening and competing in film festivals around the world.

Want to make a creature that could fit into a Star Wars, Lord of the Rings or Dr Seuss movie? This is a short introductory course for kids and teenagers interested in making creatures and characters you might find in your favourite sci fi or fantasy film. Learn about face casting with plaster of paris, mask modeling with clay, casting with paper mache and latex to create your very own character creature mask that fits your face perfectly!
Students will keep their face cast, final mask and also receive an official certification of completion at the end of the course.
Current LHAC Operations Manager Grae Burton, has worked in the Stage and Screen Industry for over 25 years. He is a specialist Experimental and Physical Theatre Practitioner and Mask Maker/Performer, starring as Cat in the Hat in Suessical The Musical and working alongside Peter Jackson in developing the specialised Green Screen Masks used for The Frighteners. He holds a B.P.S.A in Directing and Writing for Stage and Screen and a Dip. Perf. Arts in Experimental/Physical Theatre. He was trained by New Zealand’s top Mask Creators and Performers Kim Merry and Donna Chapman.

A creative and fun hands-on activity for kids to experience. We use air-dried clay to mold, shape and texture so that everyone will each own unique, personalized creation. No baking or painting required! Kids can bring their products home on the day and keep them forever as a memory.

BVA, Dip Teaching
Over the course of the term students will explore new techniques and art styles. Every week you will do something different using new techniques and processes including:- painting, drawing (pencil, charcoal, etc.), collage, acrylic painting on small canvas, papier mache animal sculpture, mask painting and more.

Learn the techniques of hand-building and sculpting with clay. You will work on several pieces through the term and learn the processes involved in taking them from raw clay through to completed glazed artworks.

In this fun class, students will explore cartooning, animation, sketching and drawing techniques using a variety of mediums to develop their artistic skills.

Learn to breathe the illusion of life into your favourite cartoon creations. Give them the gestures and expressions that make you believe they have personality, think and have feelings. Classes will take you through the step by step process of character design and focus on the drawing fundamentals of shape, construction and silhouette.
